Today we’re shining the spotlight on Technology Connected Members Trade Street Desks
Tell us a little bit about the background of your organisation?
Trade Street Desks is a coworking hub that evolved from the Indycube network of spaces. Providing office and desk space for a number of companies and freelancers, we provide the tools needed for productivity and networking when not working from home or a larger office space. We are based on Trade Street just behind Cardiff Central Station.
What have been your proudest achievements and biggest challenges so far?
Proudest achievements include creating a safe, welcoming space for individuals and companies to thrive in. Some of the biggest challenges have been adapting to life during and post Coronavirus however with it brings new opportunities for a different lifestyle – for example, less commuting and keeping trade withing the local community.
What do you think the biggest advantages of being a tech company in Wales are?
Some of the biggest advantages are the networking and connections that can be made on a local and Wales-wide level. We work closely with companies such as Method 4 and Technology Connected themselves to make sure our members have access to the latest information that could be of use to them.
What would you like to see happen to the industry in Wales and beyond?
More cross-collaboration in the industry especially given the Covid context
What does your organisation have in store for the future?
Developing the hub into a place where businesses and individuals can thrive – not just from the Tech Industry but from all parts of the dynamic Welsh freelance economy.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Be nice to receptionists! They have a direct line to the company director!
What is one piece of advice you would give?
Don’t dismiss anything. Some of the most successful projects come from a chat or just some of the simplest seedling ideas. Don’t be afraid to try new things or step out of your comfort zone – you might surprise yourself!
