I joined Sony UK TEC in 1989 as an assistant design engineer and 31 years later I am now the Operations Director.
I started my career as an apprentice tool maker with the MOD as well as studying Mechanical Engineering & Production at Llandaff Institute.
When I was a tool maker with the MOD I was always on the receiving end of the designs. But I had a passion to learn more about the design and how things were designed. I saw an advert for assistant design engineer at Sony UK TEC and decided to go for it. 2 years later I became a qualified design engineer and later a design manager for TV Europe. Then my career took me into factory engineering in 2000 becoming a senior manager in 2001. I soon moved into engineering and heading up the engineering department reporting directly to the MD Steve Dalton OBE. My career then took another turn in 2005 and took over the running of the camera business from Steve Dalton. After seven years overseeing the camera production I was appointed General Manager in 2012 before becoming Operations Director 2015.
